Bullshit, Damn, What, Unbelievable.. these where some of the first things came to people’s mind commenting on my Facebook status that Eslam Samhan, a Jordanian poet and a journalist, was sentenced with one year in prison and 10,000 JOD (almost same in EUR) fine. He was convicted the day before yesterday with what described as “insulting religions” for using phrases of the Quran in his poetry book “As light as the shadow” (برشاقة الظل). The news as it came from the AP:

The court said Sunday that Islam Samhan published his work without approval from the Jordanian government. Jordanian law bans publication of books that could be seen as harmful to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.

This is not the first case of human rights violation of this sort that happened in Amman in the past year, last Ramadan, many tourism and leisure outlets were closed on various accusations, and couple of months ago, a friend of mine and a school principal, Ahmad Al Jaafrah, was fired from a public school for objecting of using religious themes in the schools morning exercises!

I worked with Eslam before on Voices for Gaza fund raising concert, and he’s a very well mannered good man, and you know what, forget it, even if he’s an asshole and a lousy poet, he have the right of free speech, this is a secular state, and everybody should understand that, this is not Saudi Arabia neither Taliban’s Afghanistan, if this is not understood by some, then we should make it so.

It’s plain and simple, this is YOUR RIGHT you’re defending on, this is not just about Eslam, or Ahmad, or Madian, or or or.. this is about YOUR RIGHT, the right that you have as a human being, even before Jordan signed the UN human rights declaration, it is you nature-given right, your right to be free, that no one should take it away from you.

All I know about this guy that he’s not corrupted (even never accused with that by his enemies), always cared for the poor (that’s why the spoiled pro-America brats are against him), and he is not a radical Muslim and was against people like al Qaeda from the start at the time when the U.S. used to support them.. CONGRATS MR. NAJAD, from a liberal atheist!.. and no to the Fateh-Hamas scenario again that the western media keep praying for.

أريد أن أبسط هذه المسألة التي أهلكت نقاش و مقالات و جدالات باليومين الأخيرين بأبسط أشكالها حتى يفهما الأخوة “المعتدلون الواقعيون” الأعزاء الذين أصبح النقاش معهم يفتقر للمنطق أكثر من نقاشاتي مع المتدينين المتطرفين!

 

 الموضوع كالتالي:

1.  لكل من يهللون للحج أوباما، هل تتوقعون منه شيء إيجابي لقضايانا، إذا أحكمو على الأفعال و ليس على الأقوال

2. إذا كان الجواب أن التغير يأتي من الداخل و ليس من الخارج، حلو، أتفق مع هذا الكلام جداً.. و لكن:

2.1.  لماذا أذاً هذا التهليل و التصفيق و النط من بعض (ما يسمون ب) الليبراليين الجدد كإنا بحفلة روك

2.2. أمريكا هي اللي تتدخل بنا، ليس منذ 11 سبتمبر، بل منذ زمن بعيد جداً، أي هي مطالبة إما بوقف التدخل، أو تصليح سياستها بشكل عملي (مش مجرد حكي فاضي بينحكى للولاد الصغار للضحك عليهم و إسكاتهم) أعتقد أنها نقطة بسيطة جداً.. يعني لا بترحم و لا بتخلي رحمة ربنا تنزل (على قولة المثل)

3. أوباما تغير جيد عن 8 سنوات حكم بوش، ماشي، بس يا عمي ليش ذاكرة العرب (و الفراعنة، حتى ما يزعل بعض الليبراليين المصريين!) تمتد لبضع سنين فقط!! ما هيك كان الحال منذ زمان، بيجي واحد منيح و بينبسطو في العالم، و بيجي بعدو واحد عاطل و بخبصلو بهال عالم، بعدين بيجي المنيح اللي بعدو عشان يهدي النفوس بس ما بيعمل تغيير فعلي، و هكذا.. يعني

good cop, bad cop!

و بيضل العالم بنضحك عليها زي الولاد الصغار اللي ولا عمرهم بيتعلمو

4. هل يجب أن نكون متفائلين من حكم موقعنا الضعيف، بالعكس تماماً، يكفينا تفاؤلات كذابة، و تشاؤمات ما إلها داعي، فلنكن واقعيين تحللين (و ليس الواقعية العربية الغبية)، هذا هو، و هذا ما له و ما عليه

 

و بدون ما نحكي زار جامع و ما زار كنيسة و لا حكى هيك و ما حكى هيك. إنشاالله يكون أم صلاة الجمعة و قعد يلقي شعر لتميم، بالأخير، وين أفعاله، يا إما يساعد التغيير و يوقف بوضوح و بشكل عملي مع العدالة، يا إما على الأقل يحل عن سمانا
